for such a time as this

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

The Righteous Reign of the Branch

 ¹ There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, 
   and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. 
² And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, 
   the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, 
   the Spirit of counsel and might, 
   the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. 
³ And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. 
He shall not judge by what his eyes see, 
   or decide disputes by what his ears hear, 
⁴ but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, 
   and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; 
and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, 
   and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. 
⁵ Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, 
   and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

welcome to my new blog! I will be posting verses, hymns, thanksgiving, praise, thoughts, etc.

Christ is my king! I want to honor and glorify Him in all that I do. Am I perfect and successful in this? No! Which is why I am need of a Savior! God is faithful. He is good. He is perfect and sinless. He is love. He is sovereign. He is in control. He reigns. He has scooped me up out of darkness and declared me His beloved child. I, who am sinful, have been called a daughter of the Most High King. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I have done nothing to deserve this gift of life, the gift of being rescued from destruction. God is merciful. He sent His Son to die on a cross for ME.

In Him alone is my strength found.

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
